I shall never forget Memorial Day 2001. My husband and I hosted an annual cookout at the lake. We had many friends and fellow riders attending (many who were active military as we live near Ft. Sill). It was a wonderful fun filled day, with celebration for all that we had, and a somber remembrance of those who had died during or after serving our great country.

That night, those of us who were going to camp over night (many in tents) huddled in our camp trailer watching tv as sever weather was reported all around us. We were very concerned about many of our fellow riders who had rode back to "town". While watching the news we heard of one biker down, with a possiable fatality. We all felt a sinking feeling in our hearts.

The following morning we learned that it was our dear friends Walt and Freda that went down. They had only left our camp site hours before, so that they could head home early to be with their children.

Four blocks from their home, four short blocks, a micro-burst(not a tornado) hit and blew down huge electrical poles that lined the street. Freda was caught by an electrical line and pulled from the bike.

Freda left behind 4 beautiful daughters, a loving husband, many family members and many, many fellow bikers who will forever morn the loss of a great and gentle soul!

Freda was one of the most gentle souls I have ever met...
...she sure kept Walt in line (*grin*).
It's hard to believe that was 7 long years ago. Much
has happened since then. My dear husbands life saving
organ transplants, my weight loss surgery, and Bug...
... just to name a few.

Freda, you are loved and missed...
...and thanks for watching over
all of us.
